About Ready Keiki
Ready Keiki is the state’s multi-faceted plan to ensure all Hawaiʻi children are ready for kindergarten, ensuring their futures and promoting economic stability for local families. It was launched in January 2023 and is led by Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke.
By 2032, Ready Keiki aims to provide preschool access for all Hawaiʻi 3- and 4-year-olds, creating over 400 classrooms statewide.
This initiative builds on decades of groundwork by state leaders and early learning and child care champions to create more accessible preschool, set our keiki up for success, and impact the state for future generations.
Preschool in Hawai'i By the Numbers
“The Ready Keiki classroom goal is based on the Department of Health's total 3- and 4-year-old population data. Changes in birth rates, out-migration, and the addition of new pre-K seats have led to year-to-year adjustments to our classroom goal.”
